General Summary: 

The Vice President, International Sales is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of US export sales team, the development of and execution of the export sales strategy, and sales growth (Direct Customer and Group Sales) for the US.

 

The ideal candidate is a team player with a “hands on” approach to the management of their team. This position requires a solution based thinker that can react quickly but with due consideration to sales opportunities or to solve customer needs. The candidate will be expected to spend significant their time in the international markets with extensive international travel.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the international sales team
  • Create a cohesive team within a positive productive environment
  • Coach and develop sales staff (Commercial Excellence)
  • Responsible for execution of large export projects and export project management
  • Collaborate with the Grundfos sales companies, marketing and selling USA produced products
  • Cross departmental collaboration (CSC and Production) to deliver world class customer service
  • Direct key accounts responsibility and the support for these customers
  • Set and achieve Segment targets/budgets in line with the organizational strategy
  • Maintain profitability targets within the segment
  • Maintain and develop a culture of excellence relating to customer sales and service
  • Implement controls and measurements of the number of quotations versus hit ratio’s
  • Implement procedures to ensure quick and accurate solutions to customer needs
  • Provide high level technical support and knowledge within a knowledge transfer environment
  • Creating of Technical/Project quotations for customers when required
  • Internal and Customer technical training when required
  • Seek to implement innovative customer satisfaction initiatives
  • Seek out and boost company representation at industry associations and institution functions
  • Comprehensive market knowledge, trends, and market research
  • Propose programs (Incentive, selling and marketing) to product managers
  • Develop relationships with key industry role player – i.e. Consultants

 

 

Main targets:

 

  • To deliver the budget and target sales figures
  • To build a strong, dynamic, customer focussed team
  • To develop business with current and new customers, incl Grundfos sales companies
  • To train sales staff by accompanying them on sales calls and coaching them
  • To motivate the sales Segment to achieve annual Target Sales and KPI’s
  • To ensure customer quotations and queries are processed quickly and accurately
  • To ensure the internal sales reps/engineers work cohesively with other internals across different segments
  • Ensure customers are timely informed of order status or delays in delivery
  • Ensure the export sales team maintains relevant technical competency to support the customer’s needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or relevant and/or equivalent work experience.  Master's degree preferred. 
  • Proven track record in managing diverse groups of people
  • 5+ years of International sales experience
  • Experience in selling Peerless VTP and fire is a high preference
  • Extensive customer interaction from a sales and service perspective
  • Knowledge and experience in the African export market would be a value- add.
