Technical Engineer

General Summary:

Provides solutions to technical product and application requests from US Groundwater contractors via our Contractor Hotline. Support the overall Groundwater sales efforts through various projects and activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Activities:

  1. Creates higher level documentation for nonstandard products.
  2. Reviews product specifications and provides advice when required.
  3. Review and approves formal quotations based on delegation and authority procedures.
  4. Assesses advanced product applications to determine proper selection of pumps.
  5. Responsible for monthly analysis of quotation activity.
  6. Coordinates with product engineering with custom product orders.
  7. Responsible for high level product troubleshooting and installation assistance.
  8. Provides product training for new products, new employees, and existing employees in customer support centers.
  9. Handles escalated customer product complaints and documenting within the CRM system.
  10. Responsible for trend reporting of product complaints from the CRM system.
  11. Assists product specialists with program management projects, duties, and services.
  12. Required to meet or exceed Customer Support Center quality assurance standards on a consistent basis.
  13. May assist DSMs and TSMs in their region(s) in representing Grundfos at open houses, trade shows, and other industry events.Operates the Groundwater Contractor Hotline.
  14. May provide on-site technical service; including start-up/commissioning and execution of service contracts.
  15. Partners with the Groundwater/Irrigation team members and contributes to market share research. The team uses this information to determine the most strategically advantageous distribution channels, customers, markets, products and/or industries to engage and focus on
  16. Participates in global, market specific, network meetings and interfaces with key product and other management personnel from sister companies and the Denmark BDC.

Reporting / Time Management:

  1. CRM Notes of Activity: Responsible for ensuring accurate and dedicated maintenance of CRM account details when they have activity with an account.
  2. Expense Reporting: Responsible for managing their expense budget in accordance with specific Grundfos policies and procedures.
  3. Results Reporting: Prepare a monthly report in accordance with specific direction from their manager.
  4. Time Management: Effectively utilize the Outlook calendar function for Time Management & Organization (TMO) and meet all deadlines.
  5. Other: Additional reports may be required from time to time.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline preferred, but not required or five to seven years of equivalent experience in a technical role within the pump industry or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Expert knowledge of Grundfos Groundwater products and pumping applications.
  2. Knowledge of pump calculations and energy estimating.
  3. Must possess the ability to create innovative solutions to meet unique applications.
  4. Sufficient education and experience to learn, troubleshoot, and train others in applications, the systems which use of Grundfos products.
  5. Ability to work with all levels of customers.
  6. Ability to communicate highly technical concepts in simplified terms.
  7. Ability to understand and troubleshoot products specific to the role.
  8. Strong Customer Service skills.
  9. Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as strong aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs.
  10. Be open to and manage change.
  11. Assisting with closing and executing projects.
  12. Excellent time management and organization skills.
  13. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  14. Ability to travel via normal commercial modes both within the US and internationally as required.


Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record. Must retain a valid U.S. Passport.
