Peerless Pump Wins 2011 Governor’s Workplace Safety Award

Peerless Pump was recognized for Internal Education and Outreach.

INDIANIAPOLIS -- On March 2, during the 2011 Indiana Safety & Health Conference, Peerless Pump Company was awarded the 2011 Governor’s Safety Award in the medium size company category for Internal Education and Outreach. Indiana Commissioner of the Department of Labor Lori Torres presented the award to the Peerless Environmental Health and Safety team of Mike Garland and Todd Walterman.

“This is a testament to the leadership exhibited by each and every employee in pursuit of a safer workplace," said Dan Hill, Peerless Vice President who manages the team. “Following our recent Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, 2011 is off to a great start.”

Mike Garland, Peerless’ Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety also received an award from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce for achieving the Safety Compliance Specialist Certification.

“Since making safety our number one goal more than 7-years ago, we have improved in every category each year” Garland said. “The support of management and Grundfos (the Danish pump giant who acquired Peerless in 2007), has kept the expectations high, but through continuous employee training and innovative improvements to our EHS Management System, and by including every employee in our training and initiatives, we expect a lot from ourselves.”
